The Town of Fowler began in 1816 and named for Theodosius Fowler (1753 -1841) a local landowner and a captain in the American Revolution.

Fowler is located in southwest St. Lawrence County and borders the towns of Rossie, Gouverneur, Hermon, Edwards, Pitcairn, and Antwerp.

The Oswegatchie River's main and west branches flow through Fowler with scenic portages. The town is a beautiful setting for the Gouverneur Country Club and home to the Sylvia Lake community.

The Town of Fowler has received a grant from New York State through Senator Ritchie’s office in the amount of $50,000 for a playground. (Thank you Senator, for your help!)

The Playground Project's administrative committee consists of Town Clerk Kelly Harmer, Councilwoman Karen Simmons and Councilman Rick Newvine. The committee will handle paperwork and administration of the grant and will be adding Fowler residents who are interested in being a part of this exciting program.

The North Country Housing  Council is accepting ongoing applications from current homeowners who are looking for home rehabilitation. The grant application is available on this website.
